Balanced body chemistry is of utmost importance for the maintenance of health and correction of disease. Acidosis, or over-acidity in the body tissues, is one of the basic causes of many diseases, especially the arthritic and rheumatic diseases. 

All foods are “burned” in the body - more commonly called “digested” - leaving an ash as the result of the “burning”, or the digestion. This food ash can be neutral, acid or alkaline, depending largely on the mineral composition of the foods. Some foods leave an acid residue or ash, some alkaline. The acid ash (acidosis) results when there is a depletion of the alkali reserve or the diminution in the reserve supply of fixed bases in the blood and the tissues of the body. 

It is therefore, vitally important that there is a proper ratio between acid and alkaline foods in the diet. The natural ratio in a normal healthy body is approximately 4 to 1 - four parts alkaline to one part acid, or 80% to 20%. When such an ideal ratio is maintained, the body has a strong resistance against disease. In the healing of disease, when the patient usually has acidosis, the higher the ratio of alkaline elements in the diet, the faster will be the recovery. Alkalis neutralize the acids. Therefore in the treatment of most diseases it is important that the patient’s diet includes plenty of alkaline-ash foods to offset the effect of acid-forming foods and leave a safe margin of alkalinity. 

A healthy body usually keeps large alkaline reserves which are used to meet the emergency demands is too many acid-producing foods are consumed. But these normal reserves can be depleted. When the alkaline-acid ratio drops to 3 to 1, health can be seriously menaced. Your body can function normally and sustain health only in the presence of adequate alkaline reserves and the proper acid-alkaline ratio in all the body tissues and the blood.

In order to accomplish all the many millions of complex functions that occur over the course of the day, your body has to be able to communicate with itself… all the way down to the cellular level. And do you know how it does this? Through pulses of electricity. That's right, electricity.

Your body operates on an electro magnetic current. Believe it or not, all of the organs in your body emit these fields of electrical current. In fact, nerve signals are nothing more than electrical charges.

What creates this electrical power in your body is a very fine balance that exists in your bio chemistry. And of all the systems in your body that depend on this delicate, bio chemical balance, one of the most important is your blood stream. This is where pH comes into play. But what is pH?

WHAT PH IS AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO ALL YOUR BODY FUNCTIONS

PH is a scale that measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is. The scale ranges from 1 to 14 with 1 being very acid, 7 neutral and 14 very alkaline.

So what does pH have to do with you and your blood? Well, the pH of your blood is extremely important. The ideal pH level for your blood is right around 7.35 and your body goes to enormous lengths to maintain this level.

Why? Because if your blood pH were to vary 1 or 2 points in either direction, it would change the electrical chemistry in your body, there would be no electrical power and in short order you would drop dead. As you can see, maintaining the right pH level in your blood is pretty important!!

With this in mind a good way to avoid upsetting this delicate bio chemical balance would be to take a look at those things that can compromise the maintenance of the ideal pH level in your body. And what is the main culprit in this case? The answer is the creation of acid in your body.

Before we look at what causes acid, here's a graphic example to give you an idea of what can happen in the blood when your pH drops to less than ideal. Red blood cells are how oxygen is transported to all the cells in your body.

As red blood cells move into the tiny, little, capillaries, the space they have to move through gets pretty small. In fact, the diameter of the capillaries gets so small that the red blood cells sometimes have to pass through these capillaries one red blood cell at a time!

Because of this, and because it's important for the red blood cells to be able to flow easily and quickly through your body, they have a mechanism that allows them to remain separate from each other. This mechanism comes in the form of the outside of healthy red blood cells having a negative charge. This causes them to stay apart from each other, sort of like when you try to push the negative ends of two magnets together. They resist each other and stay apart.

Unfortunately, acid interferes with this very important mechanism in a pretty frightening way. Acid actually strips away the negative charge from red blood cells. The result is that your red blood cells then tend to clump together and not flow as easily. This makes it much more difficult for them to flow easily through the bloodstream.

But it also makes it harder for them to move freely through those small capillaries. This means less oxygen gets to your cells. Acid also weakens the red blood cells and they begin to die. And guess what they release into your system when they die? More acid.

I could describe a whole list of processes that occur when your system becomes and remains acid but I think you get the idea. The point is that aside from the acid that is secreted into your stomach to aid digestion, acid in your body is bad. Really bad.

In regard to producing energy in the body, here's an easy question for you. What do you think happens to a person's energy level if over time their system becomes more and more acid, their biochemical balance is disrupted and their red blood cells can't deliver oxygen and nutrients as efficiently to all their cells? The answer is simple. Their energy level drops. Dramatically.

Are you beginning to get the picture here as to the importance of pH in your body? Good. Now let's take a quick look at what causes acidity in your body and then look at steps you can take to get your body pH back to an ideal level.

WHAT CAUSES ACID IN THE BODY

The primary cause of an acidic condition in your body is from what you put in your mouth. In other words, what you eat and what you drink. And it isn't how "acid" something may seem when you eat or drink it. It has to do with what is left over when you digest it.

Specifically, does eating or drinking something leave behind an acid or alkaline "ash". For example, I don't know about you but I love seafood. Scallops are one of my favorites. However, when your body digests scallops, it leaves an extremely acid ash. In fact, scallops are one of the most acid foods you can eat.

Unfortunately, a lot of the things most people put in their mouths create an acid ash. These include alcohol, coffee and a lot of flesh protein in your diet. Interestingly enough, stress also tends to create an acid condition in the body.

STEPS YOU CAN IMMEDIATELY TAKE TO IMPROVE YOUR PH

Fortunately, it is pretty easy to immediately change your pH for the better and make it more alkaline. The first step is to understand which of the foods you are eating and the drinks you are drinking are acid and which are alkaline. Then it's simply a matter of eliminating some of the more acid foods you are eating and adding in more alkaline foods.

However, before you start, it's important to get a baseline of what the pH is in your body so that you can see how you are improving or if you need to continue to eliminate more acid foods and add in more alkaline ones.

You can do this by testing the pH of your saliva on a regular basis. This is really simple to do. More details on how to do this are provided on some web pages I have created for you to help you out. A link to these pages is provided below.

In addition to decreasing the amount of acid foods you eat and increasing the amount of alkaline foods you eat, one of the best ways to immediately begin changing your pH is to drink "green drinks". You can make these by simply adding a powder that is made up of a whole host of vegetables that are highly alkaline to a glass of water. Information on suggested green drink powders to use is included on pages that I have a link to below.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to immediately create more alkalinity in your body is to drink green drinks. Try a variety of green drink products and pick one that tastes ok by itself. Or just add some fruit juice to it if you don't like the taste that much. Whatever works for you.


But what about the wheat grass? I'm allergic to wheat!
For those of you who are concerned about wheat and gluten in any of these products, you are not alone. I was wondering the same thing. But I did a little research on the subject and here's what I found.

Wheat grass is not the same thing as, for example, wheat flour which contains the gluten protein that some people are allergic to. The gluten protein only is found in the seed portion of the plant. The same holds true for barley grass, oat grass, etc. Most of the grasses used in these products are freshly spouted and aren't at the point of producing seeds.

I have verified this myself because I have been drinking gallons of green drink products lately that have wheat grass in them and have experienced no gluten sensitivity reactions at all. This is in spite of the fact that I have clinically tested postive for gluten sensititivity and can feel a reaction as soon as I have ingested anything with gluten in it.

So don't worry. You can drink this stuff till your heart's content!

How to use the Alkaline and Acid Food Lists

 

Using the lists provided is very simple. Begin by keeping a record of the foods you are eating. If you find that your pH testing shows that you tend to be too acidic, see if any of the foods you eat regularly are in the middle or upper ranges of the acid foods list. If they are, cut back on them and or substitute them for similar foods that aren't so acidic.

At the same time, begin adding foods that are, ideally, near the top of the alkaline foods list. Keep in mind that you don't have to go overboard by eliminating all of your acidic foods and adding in tons of alkaline foods. Experiment and see what happens. If you don't make any progress at first, simply cut back or eliminate more acidic foods and replace them with more alkaline ones.

Advice for those of you who are seeking to improve your own health

This brings my health history up to the present. From all the things I've learned, I'd like to offer a few bits of advice if you are also looking for ways to improve your own health. I've also provided a list of health related books and testing resources that you can take a look at by clicking here.

  • Remember that it is your body's natural state to be healthy and energized. If you aren't feeling like you think you should, it's most likely not because you are "getting old". It's because your biochemistry is screwed up.

  • Taking pills and other drugs to hide your symptoms is only putting a band aid on what is really causing your problems. For example, who would have ever guessed that my 5+ years of a chronically bad knee would have anything to do with a little protein called gluten that my intestinal tract was having an immune response to.

    But that was exactly what was causing the pain in my knee. Remember, symptoms like headaches, fatigue, digestion problems, etc. are most likely signs that something else more central in your body is out of whack.

  • Most of the health problems that people experience have to do with what they have put in their mouths over the long term, whether it's abusing their body with drugs, alcohol, caffeine, sugar or something as simple as eating the wrong foods for their metabolic type.

    Again, you have to take a systematic approach to figuring out what it is that you are eating and drinking that is making you ill and robbing you of energy as well as what it is that energizes you. It's a pain in the rear end to figure out but well worth it when you finally figure out what is wrong and you start to feel better.

  • Keep detailed records of the process you go through on your quest for improved health and energy. Only by reviewing what you have been through and what you have tested for can you eliminate the possibilities to the point where you can figure out what is wrong.

Here are some of the areas I would suggest you concentrate on, not necessarily in this order. Click here for a list of resources on how to learn more about the following 4 areas.

  • Improving your digestion and assimilation of foods. My experience has shown that your body can only live and regenerate itself to the degree to which it can absorb nutrients. In other words, it doesn't matter what you eat if your body can't absorb it. Because of this, improving your digestion and assimilation should be your number one priority.

  • Creating and maintaining an alkaline pH in your body. Wherever you find an acid environment in the body, aside from the stomach, you usually find poor function. Western culture and food tends to produces an acid pH in the body. Fortunately, this is something that is fairly easy to control and improve.

  • Learning how to detoxify the body. I've been through just about every cleansing program you can imagine. Some of the cleanses I'd recommend include Castor Oil Pak for the liver, Cell Cleanse for the cells and kidneys, Coffee Enemas for the colon and liver, Colon Cleanses for the colon and small intestines and Liver and Gall Bladder cleanses.

    Take it from me, your body right now as you are reading this most likely has a bunch of junk in it, including heavy metals and a host of other nasty substances. Your organs have probably been working overtime for years trying to get rid of this stuff. Learn how to help your body get rid of the garbage and wastes.

  • Getting good quality micro nutrients into your body. Bottom line, you need vitamin supplements. It's not even an issue any more. Even the stingy Journal of the American Medical Association agrees.

I hope you have found this information enlightening and helpful. If you have lost your health and energy in some way, don't despair. If I can go from feeling so completely awful with so many symptoms to feeling great and having all those symptoms vanish without taking any drugs, you certainly can find out over time what is wrong with you and feel better yourself.

Remember, your body's natural state is one of balance and energy. All you have to do is become a good detective, figure out what's wrong then guide your biochemistry back to where it belongs. Your miraculous body will do the rest.

Liver Detox  At 2 p.m., drink 1-2 tablespoons of Epsom Salts dissolved in warm,  purified water (optional, but preferred – be near a bathroom when  drinking the Epsom Salts as it will cause liquid stool within 20-30  minutes usually).   At 5 p.m., drink 1-2 tablespoons of Epsom Salts dissolved in warm water   At 7 p.m., eat a dinner of heavy whipping cream and fresh berries – as  much as desired. (For better flavor, combine the berries in a bowl with  a teaspoon of natural sugar and let them sit overnight. Whip the cream  in a large bowl just before serving. Mix the whipped cream and berries  together to make a parfait.)   At bedtime, drink 3/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil. A small amount  (1/4 cup) of freshly squeezed orange, grapefruit, or lemon juice may be  added if desired. Immediately after drinking the oil, go to bed and lie  on your right side with knees drawn up to your stomach for 30 minutes.  You may feel nauseated during the night. This is due to the release of  stored toxins from the gallbladder and liver. This is normal and a sign  that the protocol is working. If you feel the need to vomit, do so, as  this is a normal release of toxins.   At 7:00 a.m. and for the next two days drink 1/2 a fresh lemon on  4onces of warm water. Have only juice (pineapple or melon at 8:00a.m.)  Do not drink tap water. Evaluate the purity of the water that you  consume and use for other purposes. Most water contains chlorine,  fluoride, and other pollutants. Distilled water is good, a little apple  cider vinegar adds beneficial minerals, and can easily be purchased at  most stores.   Enzymes: Bromeline and Papain (below 1000 miligrams per day) otherwise  it might elevate liver enzymes and hurt the liver and digestive system.  


Cleanse you liver twice a year

Preparation

You can't clean a liver with living parasites in it. You won't get out many stones. Zap daily the week before, or get through the first three weeks of the parasite killing program before attempting a liver cleanse. If you are on a parasite maintenance program, do a high dose program the week before.

Completing the kidney cleanse before cleansing the liver is also recommended. You want your kidneys, bladder and urinary tract in top working condition so they can efficiently remove any undesirable substances incidentally absorbed from the intestine as the bile is being excreted.

Do any dental work first, if possible. Your mouth should be metal free and bacteria free (cavitations are cleaned). A toxic mouth can put a heavy load on the liver, burdening it immediately after cleansing. Eliminate that problem first for best results.

I also recommend using grapefruit juice over lemon juice. The lemon juice sometimes doesn't mix with the oil as well as grapefruit juice.]

Choose a day like Saturday for the cleanse, since you will be able to rest the next day.

Take no medicines, vitamins or pills that you can do without; they could prevent success. Stop the parasite program and kidney herbs too, the day before.

Eat a no-fat breakfast and lunch such as cooked cereal with fruit, fruit juice (no butter or milk), baked potato or other vegetables with salt only. This allows the bile to build up and develop pressure in the liver. Higher pressure pushes out more stones.

2:00 PM.

Do not eat or drink after 2 o'clock. If you break this rule you could feel quite ill later.

Get your Epsom salts ready. Mix 4 tbs. in 3 cups water and pour this into a jar.

This makes four servings, 3/4 cup each. Set the jar in the refrigerator to get ice cold (this is for convenience and taste only).

6:00 PM.

Drink one serving (3/4 cup) of the ice cold Epsom salts. If you did not prepare this ahead of time, do it right now. You may also add 1/8 tsp. vitamin C powdered to improve the taste. You may also drink a few mouthfuls of water afterwards or rinse your mouth. Get the olive oil and grapefruit out to warm up.

8:00 PM.

Repeat by drinking another 3/4 cup of Epsom salts. You haven't eaten since two o'clock, but you won't feel hungry. Get your bedtime chores done. The timing is critical for success; don't be more than 10 minutes early or late.

9:45 PM.

Pour 1/2 cup (measured) olive oil into the pint jar. Squeeze the grapefruit by hand into the measuring cup. Remove pulp with fork. You should have at least 1/2 cup, more (up to 3/4 cup) is best. You may top it up with lemonade. Add this to the olive oil. Close the jar tightly with the lid and shake hard until watery (only fresh grapefruit does this).

Now visit the bathroom one or more times, even it makes you late for your ten o'clock drink. Don't be more than 15 minutes late.

10:00 PM.

Drink the potion you have mixed. Take 4 ornithine iconcapsules with the first sips to make sure you will sleep through the night. Take 8 if you already suffer from insomnia. Take it to your bedside if you want, but drink it standing up. Get it down within 5 minutes (fifteen minutes for very elderly or weak persons).

Although I generally recommend against drinking soda, I make an exception when doing the liver flush. Adding an amount of Classic Coke equal to the amount of olive oil to the recipe makes swallowing the mixture much easier.

Lie down immediately. You might fail to get stones out if you don't. The sooner you lie down the more stones you will get out. Be ready for bed ahead of time. Don't clean up the kitchen. As soon as the drink is down walk to your bed and lie down flat on your back with your head up high on the pillow. Try to think about what is happening in the liver. Try to keep perfectly still for at least 20 minutes. You may feel a train of stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. There is no pain because the bile duct valves are open (thank you Epsom salts!). Go to sleep. You may fail to get stones out if you don't.

Next morning. Upon awakening take your third dose of Epsom salts. If you have indigestion or nausea wait unit it is gone before drinking the Epsom salts. You may go back to bed. Don't take this potion before 6:00 AM.

2 hours later.

Take your fourth (the last) dose of Epsom salts. Drink 3/4 cups of the mixture. You may go back to bed.

After 2 more hours you may eat. Start with fresh fruit juice. Half an hour later eat fruit. One hour later you may eat regular food but keep it light. By supper you should feel recovered.

How well did you do?

Expect diarrhea in the morning. Use a flashlight to look for gallstones in the toilet with the bowel movement. Look for the green kind since this is proof that they are genuine gallstones, not food residue. Only bile from the liver is pea green. The bowel movement sinks but gallstones float because of the cholesterol inside. Count them all roughly, whether tan or green. You will need to total 2,000 stones before the liver is clean enough to rid you of allergies or bursitis or upper back pains permanently. The first cleanse may rid you of them for a few days, but as the stones from the rear travel forward, they give you the same symptoms again. You may repeat cleanses at two week intervals. Never cleanse when you are ill.

Sometimes, the bile ducts are full of cholesterol crystals that did not form into round stones. They appear as a "chaff" floating on top of the toilet bowl water. It may be tan colored, harboring millions of tiny white crystals. cleansing this chaff is just as important as purging the stones.

How safe is the liver cleanse? It is very safe. My opinion is based on over 500 cases, including many persons in their seventies and eighties. None went to the hospital; none even reported pain. However it can make you feel quite ill for one or two days afterwards, although in every one of these cases the maintenance parasite program had been neglected. This is why the instructions direct you to complete the parasite and kidney rinse program first.

This procedure contradicts many modern medical viewpoints. Gallstones are thought to be formed in the gallbladder, not the liver. They are though to be few, not thousands. They are not linked to pains other than gallbladder attacks. It is easy to understand why this thought: by the time you have acute pain attacks, some stones are in the gallbladder, are big enough and sufficiently calcified to see on X-ray, and have caused inflammation there. When the gallbladder is removed the acute attacks are gone, but the bursitis and other pains and digestive problems remain.

The truth is self-evident. People who have had their gallbladder removed surgically still get plenty of green, bile coated stones, and anyone who cares to dissect their stones can see that the concentric circles and crystals of cholesterol match textbook pictures of "gallstones" exactly."

Nine Ways to Restore Acid/Alkaline Balance in Your Body

Fats and oils have a neutral pH, neither acid nor alkaline. Plant-based beverages (tea, coffee, cocoa, herbal teas, beer, wine, juices of fruits and vegetables) are generally mildly alkaline. 2. Supplement your diet with alkaline minerals. Salts of the alkaline minerals cesium, rubidium and potassium have been found by Dr. Brewer to be particularly effective in fighting cancer. Dr. Gerson (page 246) gave his patients a 10% potassium solution. Potassium tablets are commonly available. Potassium salt (potassium chloride - KCl) is often found in grocery stores as a "salt substitute". Potassium bicarbonate (KHCO3) can be used as a substitute for sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) when baking. Search on the Internet for a supplier of potassium bicarbonate if you cannot find it locally. Many people take calcium, magnesium and vitamin D daily in order to help prevent osteoporosis. Take your calcium in divided doses with meals so that it can be better absorbed. Taking a vitamin C tablet with your calcium helps the calcium dissolve. Eating a little coconut oil with each meal helps the body absorb many nutrients including calcium and magnesium.

People in North America tend to consume much sodium and calcium and insufficient potassium and magnesium. This is often reflected in urine tests which show sodium and calcium being excreted while potassium and magnesium are retained. We suggest that rather than focusing on calcium to increase your alkalinity, you should consume a variety of alkaline minerals so that the body can choose what it needs from what is offered.

While it is well known that calcium needs vitamin D in order to be absorbed and utilized, most people in northern climates tend to be deficient in vitamin D, particularly in winter. Even in summer, recent advice from the medical profession to avoid the sun and to block ultraviolet light from reaching the skin through the use of sunscreens leads to vitamin D deficiency. Better advice is to experience the sun in moderation in all seasons. Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of a summer day, but otherwise utilize the sunlight to maximize your vitamin D production. Plus, consume vitamin D dietary supplements in all seasons.

Also, while it is commonly understood that the body needs calcium to build bones, what is not generally known is bones are a complex matrix of many different minerals and if all the required minerals are not present then strong bones cannot be built. There are at least 18 key bone-building nutrients essential for optimum bone health. The implication is that it is easier to destroy bone through excess acidity in the body than it is to rebuild bone. Furthermore, as farm soils become depleted of many trace minerals the foods grown on these soils contain less and less of the required nutrients. At last count, the human body requires 90 different nutrients for optimum health, and the list is growing year by year. A good nutritional supplement is no longer optional.

Magnesium Complements Calcium

Calcium is needed to contract a muscle and magnesium is needed to relax it. Too much calcium in the diet relative to magnesium can lead to muscle cramping and spastic constipation. If your stools are hard, dry and difficult to expel then this indicates you need more magnesium.

If you do not eat dairy products, you can get calcium from cooked greens (collards especially), molasses, sesame seeds, broccoli, and tofu. If you are worried about getting enough calcium, take a supplement. A reasonable dose of supplemental calcium is 1,000-1,500 milligrams a day... It is good to know that supplemental calcium is not harmful, since so many people are taking it today.

A problem with dairy products is that they contain so little magnesium. This is one reason why dairy products do not build healthy bones. Your best dietary source of magnesium is green leafy vegetables, because plants use magnesium to make chlorophyll. Some plants such as collards, broccoli, romaine lettuce, bok choy, and kale contain an abundance of both magnesium and calcium.

Almonds are a particularly good source of calcium, magnesium and vitamin E. Almond milk is sometimes used as a substitute for cows milk. Almonds, cashews and filberts (hazelnuts) are the most nutritious nuts. Edgar Cayce frequently recommended these three nuts for many health conditions.

Magnesium hydroxide - Mg(OH)2 - also known as "milk of magnesia" is a good source of magnesium and oxygen. As a side benefit, it helps clean out your colon and intestines. The friendly intestinal bacteria are aerobic and need oxygen. Plus, oxygen helps remove impacted fecal material. Magnesium hydroxide is not a stimulant like common laxatives, and is not habit-forming. 3. Supplement your diet with freshly made fruit and vegetable juices. As a treatment for cancer, some doctors recommend one 8 oz glass per hour for every waking  hour of the day. We could never eat the amount of nutrition we drink with these juices.

4. Learn and practice Transcendental Meditation (TM). TM is a non-dietary way to increase the alkalinity of your body. TM gives a level of rest twice as deep as sleep and is an effective antidote to stress. Stress is insidious because it affects us 24 hours each day. Stress causes the heart to beat too fast, the muscles to be too tense, the entire metabolism to be too fast. Metabolic waste products are acids (lactic acid, uric acid, etc.), which is one reason why dissolving stress increases the alkalinity of the body. The effectiveness of TM is evidenced by a 53% reduction in overall health care costs and a 55% reduction in cancer (Psychosomatic Medicine 49 (1987): 493-507, American Journal of Managed Care Volume 3, Number 1, (1997): 135-144).

Wow what a great site, thank you. I must tell you why I was so impressed. When I was given less than a year to live in 1993, I read a lot about Max Gerson (I visited his clinic in Mexico last year) but more importantly I started on a diet to alkalize my body and get the pH at 7.4 or slightly alkaline.

Every day for the past 6 years I start out by drinking 5 glasses of raw vegetable juice, which even tastes great these days. Surprise surprise, no more cancer AND no more arthritis (formally diagnosed in 1992), no more cholesterol, sinus, blood pressure.

The above 4 ways to increase the alkalinity of your body should be effective for most people. If you have difficulty becoming alkaline, here are five more ways for you to try.

5. As people age, the digestive system weakens. The result can be nutritional deficiencies in the body, even when the diet is adequate. It is not just what you eat, but what you absorb that is important. To improve your digestion, it may be helpful to take supplementary hydrochloric acid in the form of "betaine hydrochloride", and supplementary digestive enzymes with each meal. Bromelain, the enzyme in fresh pineapple, is also very helpful. We suggest eating fresh pineapple regularly.

6. Blood is a colloidal solution. The overall negative electrical charge (called zeta potential) in the blood is what keeps the cells and nutrients in suspension (like charges repel each other). When the negative electrical charge becomes weak, then particles in blood tend to clump together and fall out of solution. Plaques form on artery walls, in the brain and other places. The blood loses its capacity to carry nutrients. The value of the nutrients you consume is lost if the blood cannot transport them. About half the population has badly sludged blood (the cells have coagulated), and most of the remainder have some degree of sludging. Everyone needs to learn how to maximize their zeta potential and the nutrient carrying capacity of their blood.

One lab found that best results in reducing intravascular coagulation were obtained by drinking 8 glasses per day of reverse osmosis filtered water with a mix of potassium citrate and potassium bicarbonate added sufficient to raise the pH of the water to 8.0 to 8.4. The minerals MUST be taken with the water in order to be effective, because dehydration is also a factor. Potassium works better than sodium to reduce intravascular coagulation, in fact too much sodium in the diet is part of the problem. The lab recommends that everyone replace table salt with a mixture of 60% potassium chloride and 40% sodium chloride to better reflect the potassium/sodium balance found in foods.

The recommendations of this lab are remarkably similar to Dr. Gerson's cancer therapy which includes drinking one glass of freshly made fruit or vegetable juice (high in potassium) each waking hour of the day supplemented with a 10% potassium solution. Dr. Gerson's therapy directly strengthens the nutrient carrying capacity of the blood.

To increase your zeta potential you must avoid aluminum. Aluminum is used in water treatment plants to cause materials to settle out of solution. It does this by reducing the zeta potential. In your body aluminum does the same thing. Aluminum is found in municipally treated water, cooking utensils, vaccinations, non-clumping  salt and baking powder, anti-perspirants, antacids, drugs (read the label carefully), soft drinks and other canned goods where the plastic liner has cracked during sealing, and in other unexpected places. A reverse osmosis water filter can remove aluminum from your drinking water.

Sodium and calcium decrease zeta potential. Potassium increases zeta potential. The form of potassium that has maximum effect on zeta potential is called potassium citrate. Potassium citrate is available on the Internet. You can read more about zeta potential here.

7. There is an intestinal disorder known as celiac disease that disrupts the ability to absorb calcium and vitamin D as well as other nutrients. Many people with osteoporosis actually have celiac disease. Celiac disease is the result of intolerance to the gluten in wheat, barley and rye. Following a gluten-free diet may improve both digestion and bone density. If you are having difficulty increasing your alkalinity, you might try a gluten-free diet for a few weeks or months to see if it helps. 

8. Unhealthy intestinal bacteria and yeasts excrete lactic acid and other organic acids that are absorbed by the body and turn the blood acidic. This situation is often associated with inflamed and swollen intestines that are less able to absorb nutrients. People who are unable to alkalize their body using steps one to four above may be helped by the Specific Carbohydrate Diet that denies unhealthy intestinal flora and fauna the undigested carbohydrates that they eat. The Specific Carbohydrate Diet is explained in the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall.

9. Populations of bacteria, fungi, etc. may be thriving throughout your body without causing acute disease, yet producing copious acid waste products. These stealth infections may underlie a variety of degenerative conditions. Bacteria are found in arthritic joints, arterial plaque, and many other places. Reducing these populations by strengthening your immune system, hyperthermia, exercise, meditation, electro-medicine and other means can help alkalize your body and free up immune system resources to fight cancer.

Basically, alkaline acid diets is the diet that consumed our ancestors: fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, unprocessed or minimally processed plant or animal foods. This is why it's natural to assume that this diet is the most natural and healthy for human beings.
